Slow Cooker 3-Ingredient Brown Sugar Chicken delivers tender, fall-apart chicken coated in a glossy sweet-savory brown sugar sauce. With chicken, Italian dressing mix, and brown sugar, this easy dinner takes almost no prep.
Ingredients
4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts About the same size if possible
1 packet Italian dressing mix About 0.7 ounce; use the dry seasoning packet, not bottled dressing
1 cup packed brown sugar Light or dark brown sugar
nonstick cooking spray Optional, for coating the slow cooker
Method
Lightly coat the inside of your slow cooker with nonstick spray if desired, then arrange the chicken breasts in the bottom in as close to a single layer as possible.
Sprinkle the Italian dressing mix evenly over the chicken breasts, trying to get a little on each one.
Pack the brown sugar over the top of the seasoned chicken, covering it as evenly as possible.
Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours or on high for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, until the chicken is tender and cooked through and the brown sugar has melted into a glossy sauce.
Start checking at the early end of the cooking time, especially if the chicken breasts are small.
Spoon the sauce over the chicken before serving.
Use a wide spatula or tongs to lift the chicken out carefully because it will be very soft and may fall apart slightly.
