This easy flatbread recipe combines the crispy, golden texture of homemade flatbread with the rich, melty goodness of cheddar cheese. Below, you’ll find a simple yet flavorful recipe that’s sure to become a household favorite.

Ingredients :

2 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1 tbsp olive oil
3/4 cup warm water
1 1/2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
1 tbsp fresh herbs (optional, e.g., rosemary or thyme)
1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)
Olive oil or melted butter for brushing

Method :

Step 1: Prepare the Dough
Mix the flour, baking powder, and salt together in a large basin.
Add the olive oil and warm water gradually, stirring until a soft dough forms.
Knead the dough for three to four minutes, or until it is smooth, on a surface coated with flour.
Let the dough rest for ten minutes after covering it with a fresh towel.

Step 2: Shape the Flatbread
Divide the dough into 4 equal portions.
Roll each portion into a thin, round flatbread, about 8-10 inches in diameter.
If desired, sprinkle a pinch of garlic powder or fresh herbs over the dough for added flavor.

Step 3: Add the Cheddar Cheese
Evenly sprinkle about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the surface of each flatbread.
Gently press the cheese into the dough to ensure it sticks during cooking.

Step 4: Cook the Flatbread
Lightly coat a big pan or griddle with olive oil and heat it over medium heat.
Place one flatbread in the skillet, cheese side up, and cook for 2-3 minutes until the bottom is golden and crisp.
Flip the flatbread and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes, allowing the cheddar cheese to melt and bubble.
Repeat for the remaining flatbreads.

Step 5: Serve
Brush the warm flatbreads with a touch of olive oil or melted butter for extra richness.
Slice into wedges and serve immediately as a snack, appetizer, or alongside soups and salads.
