Today we will prepare Squid marinated with carrots and onions or (Korean-style squid at home) You can cook using vinegar, whichever you prefer. This time I took table vinegar – the snack turned out excellent, just like from the store! Next time I want to try wine or apple, I think it will also work well
Ingredients :
600 gr – Squid (carcasses or rings)
2 pcs – Onions (medium)
2 pcs – Carrots (medium)
Vinegar – 3 tbsp. l.
Granulated sugar – 3 tbsp. l.
Vegetable oil – 4 tbsp. l.
Water (boiling water) – 1.5 cups
Sweet paprika – 1 tsp
1 pc – Cloves
3 pcs – Black pepper (allspice, peas)
2 tsp – Sesame
Salt – to taste
Method :
Defrost the squid, rinse, and peel. Cut into strips and fry over high heat for 3 minutes in 3 tbsp. l. vegetable oil. Place in a separate bowl
In the oil remaining after frying the squid, fry the onion, cut into rings, for 5 minutes
Prepare the marinade. Pour hot water into a deep bowl. Add cloves, allspice, paprika, sugar, and salt to taste. Place on the fire, bring to a boil, and cook over low heat, covered, for 10 minutes. Let it come to room temperature, strain through a sieve, add vinegar and the remaining 1 tbsp. l. vegetable oil
While the marinade is cooling, let’s start with the carrots. Let’s clean it and grate it on a Korean grater. If you don’t have such a grater, you can simply cut the carrots into very thin strips
Mix squid, carrots, and onions in a separate bowl and pour marinade over them. After stirring, cover, and chill for 12 hours
Add sesame seeds and squid in the marinade is ready
